“HTTP 500 Internal Server Error” when SEO friendly URLs are activated on Prestashop 1.5.6.1

You may face a situation where front end as well as back office is blank page when SEO friendly URLs are activated. Or you may see HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. This happens predominantly in case of Prestashop 1.5.6.1

To resolve the issue, do the following…

1. Turn On and turn Off the SEO friendly URLs. This will generate the a .htaccess file on your root
2. Download the .htaccess file. Comment the line “SetEnv HTTP_MOD_REWRITE On” by putting # before the line
3. If the version of PHP running on your server is 5.4, change it to 5.2. In GoDaddy or Bluehost hosting, it’s easy to change the version. Just Google on net how to change the version of PHP for your hosting company.

This should solve your problem. Error “HTTP 500 Internal Server Error” will be fixed and you will be able to see the front end, inner pages and back office.

If you see “HTTP 500 Internal Server Error” when SEO friendly URLs are activated on Prestashop 1.5.6.1, do the following…
